Chris Fehn’s mask and how to make it
Chris Fehn is a percussionist for the well known band Slipknot. Slipknot fans think his mask is one of the coolest ones, and people like to dress up and mask like him for Halloween. So what is so cool about his mask? Well, his mask is a black leather bondage mask with a zipper for mouth and a very long nose. The color of his masked changed, first it was white, than black, then red, and in the recent period he returned to the previous black leather style. The nose however, always stayed the same length- 7,5 inches ,to be precise, as well as the rest of the masks features. His mask arouse a broad discussion and a lot of guessing about the reasons why he chose the long nose and the SM look. The list of possible reasons is getting longer and longer even as you read this, thought Chris himself once declared that he is not sure why he picked that kind of a mask.
Well, with or without a good reason and explanation, you have to agree that the mask is really cool. Some people even think that it’s more funny than scary, and even some kids love it! This mask can be made at home if you want to put in a little effort, time and creativity. You can also buy it in store or order it over the internet but it can cost you a pretty penny, and when ordering over the internet have in mind that the size may not fit you completely and you’ll have to do additional fitting. This mask is pretty easy to make at home even if you are not really artistic and skillful. No painting is required, just some basic sewing skills.
- Buy a plain, regular latex mask that covers the whole head.
- Cut out the front part so your whole face shows.
- Take a piece of leather( real or fake, doesn’t matter) and cut the part in the same size as the latex cutout. Also make the opening for the mouth and sew a zipper on.
- Bind the latex back and the leather front with a thick thread or , for a genuine look, you can use leather straps.
- For a bondage style look add 3 leather straps that will go from your ears and your forehead back. The straps should form a flipped letter T in the back of your head.
- Wear your brand new mask and enjoy.
